If you've been stuck in a business rut before, chances are it was because you were doing the same things over and over and expecting new results... Wait, isn't that the definition of insanity?
So now that we've established you're insane... Let's resolve the issue. If you're taking advantage of social media, local networking groups, advertising campaigns etc, you should be getting somewhere, right? Well it depends how you're using these platforms.
Social Media: Are you just spamming content about your business all over your social feeds? If so, you're not engaging with your clientele, you're just force feeding them your business and people don't like that! Try and engage from a more personal perspective first. Ask relevant and audience capturing questions that provoke real, interested answers. Post about things you enjoy or other businesses you like. Show your personality and allow people to know the person behind the business a little.
Networking Groups: Are you utilizing your time wisely while networking? Make sure you are getting around the room and engaging with multiple people. Ask questions about what they are offering, how it may benefit you personally or in business and don't just talking about how great what you do and what you can offer them is the entire time. Be a little selfless.
Advertising Campaigns: What is your target market and demographic? Are you narrowed down enough and capturing the right audience for your promotion? Are you spending enough to get the reach and exposure your ad needs at the right times of day? Hone in on this key points so your not letting money slip through the cracks!
Strategy: If you've tried one thing for a while and aren't getting the reaction you were looking for, put it on the back burner for a bit and try a different approach. If you've only tried facebook, try twitter or instagram and see if this new environment draws more attention from the right kinds of people.
Bottom line: Step out of the box. If it ain't broke, don't fix it but if it could use a little improvement, get the tools out and start rebuilding the areas that aren't holding up!
